A week in Steamboat

Sunday

Winter Carnival

It was the last day of the Winter Carnival when we arrived, so we all held off skiing for that morning and headed into town. If you want to know why Steamboat is so different from every other ski town, come to the Winter Carnival and you'll understand.

Monday

First Tracks

We had a massive dump of snow last night, so the only thing on everyone's mind was first tracks on Champagne PowderTM. A brilliant blue sky and unbelievably light snow - days like this are what make Steamboat world famous.

Tuesday

Mushing

This is something we've all been looking forward to for over a year, and it was better than any of us imagined it would be. The backcountry takes on new meaning when you're flying through it behind a pack of Siberian Huskies.

Wednesday

A night on the town

After 2 solid days in the outdoors, we're all ready to take it a little easier. The kids are hanging out with friends so we'll take our time and spend a relaxing dinner together at Cafe Diva before we catch some live music at The Tugboat.

Thursday

Ice Fishing

The kids went out early for a full day of skiing, so I decided that today was the day for my favorite Steamboat ritual, a quiet day with a few friends ice fishing on Steamboat Lake State Park.

Friday

Snowmobiling

For a change of pace, we went snowmobiling. An unbelievable day and a whole new way to play in the snow. We'll definitely be doing this again!

Saturday

Strawberry Springs

They say if you don't go to the Springs, you haven't really been to Steamboat. Just 15 minutes out of town, Strawberry Springs' natural hot springs are a must-do for all of us every time we're here, and it's the perfect place to wrap up our week.
